Privacy Policy

This explains what trly collects, why, and what say you have over it. trly.me/you is meant to be public — this page is about the parts that aren't.

1. Information we collect

What you give us directly:

  • Account info: email address, password (stored as a hash, never in plain text), username.
  • Profile content: name, photo, taste (music/movies/places/etc.), personal photos (“moments”), a tagline, statement, or quote you choose to add.
  • Anything else you type into a field on Settings.

What we collect automatically:

  • A single session cookie that keeps you signed in — no third-party ad or tracking cookies.
  • Basic technical logs (like error logs) needed to keep the service running.

What connected services give us, only if you connect them:

  • Google: your name, email, and profile photo, to create or sign in to your account.
  • Spotify: your currently-playing track, so it can show on your profile if you turn that on.

2. How we use it

  • To run your profile page and show it to the people you share it with.
  • To power features you opt into, like Discover or the Spotify “now playing” hero.
  • To keep you signed in and keep the service secure.
  • To fix bugs and improve trly.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use it to serve you ads.

3. What's public vs. private

Your profile page (trly.me/you) is public by design — anyone with the link can see the sections you've chosen to show. Your email and password are never shown on your public page.

Appearing in Discover — being findable by people searching taste or interests you didn't directly share a link with — is a separate, opt-in setting in Settings. It defaults to off; you decide if and when to turn it on, and can turn it back off at any time.

4. Cookies

trly uses one cookie to keep you logged in. It's required for the account features to work and isn't used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

5. Third-party services

Signing in with Google and connecting Spotify are optional. Using either means that service processes some data too, under their own privacy policies — we only receive what they share with us for the feature you enabled (sign-in, or now-playing). You can disconnect Spotify at any time from Settings.

6. How long we keep it, and deleting your account

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account any time from Settings — this removes your profile, uploaded photos, and taste from trly. Some minimal records (like what's needed for legal or security reasons) may be kept briefly after deletion.

7. Your choices

  • Edit or remove anything on your profile from Settings, any time.
  • Turn Discover visibility on or off from Settings.
  • Disconnect Google or Spotify from Settings.
  • Delete your account entirely from Settings.

8. Children

trly isn't directed at children, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made reasonably clear.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request about your data — hello@trly.me.
